This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To assess the effectiveness among young people of mass media campaigns in preventing or reducing use of or intention to use illicit drugs.  

A secondary objective is to assess differential effects among campaigns with different theoretical approaches.
