This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

We plan to assess the effectiveness of co-bedding for stable preterm twins in neonatal nursery compared to separate nursing in promoting growth and neurodevelopment and reducing short and long-term morbidities. We also plan to assess whether co-bedding is associated with any significant adverse effects compared to separate nursing.

As secondary objectives, we plan to evaluate the effects of co-bedding via the following subgroup analyses: twin pairs with different weight ranges (VLBW of less than 1500 grams and non-VLBW), twins with and without significant growth-discordance at birth, preterm and borderline preterm twins, twins co-bedded in incubator and cot at study entry, and studies in which randomisation occurs at the level of each twin pair and neonatal unit.
