This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:
To assess the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions for substance and alcohol abusing adolescents compared to pharmacological interventions, no intervention, other psychosocial interventions on retention in treatment, reducing the use of substances and improving health and social status.
