Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a complex reproductive endocrinology disease, which may affect the ability of women to conceive. Sixty to 70% anovulatory subfertility are induced by PCOS. Chinese herbal medicines (CHM) have been reported to be an alternative approach for subfertile women with PCOS. Four randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were identified. There is not enough evidence upon which to draw conclusions about the effectiveness and safety of CHM in terms of live birth rate, pregnancy rate, ovulation rate and adverse events in subfertile women with PCOS.
