This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:
To assess the effects of dilute versus full strength formula on necrotizing enterocolitis, feeding intolerance, weight gain, length of stay and time to achieve full calorie intake by enteral feed in preterm or very low birth weight infants. A secondary objective is to assess the effects of different dilution strategies.
