This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The objective of this review is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of drugs for preventing or treating pruritus in patients receiving neuraxial opioids.

We will evaluate whether drugs given prior to or after onset of pruritus alter the risks of pruritus and other side-effects (somnolence, increased analgesic requirement) in patients receiving spinal or epidural opioids.
