This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To assess the efficacy of gene therapy in relieving symptoms (improvement in claudication distance or rest pain, lesion healing or limb salvage) of peripheral arterial disease in patients presenting with intermittent claudication, ulceration, or critical limb ischaemia. To assess the efficacy of gene therapy in maintaining graft patency following lower limb bypass surgery in patients with peripheral arterial disease.
