Vaccination against influenza may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. All randomised trials comparing people receiving active vaccine with those receiving a placebo vaccine or no vaccine were searched. Two small trials were found, with a total of 778 participants. Only a small number of people suffered acute heart disease in these trials, so it is difficult to reach any conclusions about the effect of influenza vaccination for preventing heart disease.
