This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

Primary objective: To determine the effect of body position on spontaneously breathing preterm infants with clinically significant apnoea

Sub group analyses:
The effect of body position on the spontaneously breathing preterm infant with apnoea will be examined in the following subgroups
Gestational age < 28 weeks or less than 1000 grams
Infants with apnoea managed with methylxanthines
Infants with frequent apnoea (> 10 events per day)
By type of apnoea measured (central, mixed and obstructive)
