This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:
The primary objective of this review is to assess the effect of different empirical antimicrobial therapies on the survival and clinical response of adult patients with VAP. A secondary objective is to report the incidence of adverse events and superinfections associated with these therapies.
